A Remarkable Increase in Artificial Intelligence Jobs, Shows Indeed Data

A recent date from a job site ‘Indeed’ reveals that Job searches in Artificial Intelligence (AI) have witnessed a spike of 106% in the last year (June 2019 to July 2020). It also shows that AI-related Job searches have increased by 20% in the past six months (March 2020 to July 2020) alone.

Jobs in Artificial Intelligence have seen a steady hike over the last five years, shows the report by Indeed. Python, TensorFlow, and Natural Language Processing (NLP) top the list of skill sets, and they are in demand.

During the ongoing pandemic, several industries across the globe are adopting AI-led technologies to ensure that the business continues during the given unprecedented circumstances. The way AI is developing and its functions are being automated, creating more opportunities in terms of job prospect. The fourth Industrial Revolution has stimulated not only the creation of jobs in the eco-system but also grabbed the attention of the job seekers from different fields. Therefore, the AI industry has been witnessing an increase in the last consecutive five years. Similarly, job openings in the AI industry have gone up in the past year. Wherein the industry has recorded a hike of 28% in job openings since August 2019, job searches have increased by 91%.

Over the past two years, AI job postings have also gone up by 46% between June 2018 and June 2019. A spike of 51% has been noticed between June 2019 and June 2020. In the last six months, Artificial Intelligence has seen a rise of 17% in its ecosystem of the job posting.

A large number of companies, including technology sector, are keen to pull talents in with a specialisation in the field to implement and enhance machine learning solutions to their post-pandemic requirements. Moreover, not only job seekers but also several companies from the non-technology sector are actively trying to pursue avenues to enhance their skills in terms of maintaining a pace with the evolution of new-age technology.

“In light of our new reality in a post-pandemic world, the need of the hour is twofold”, states Venkata Machavarapu, Head of Engineering, India and Site Director at Indeed India, in a press release. Explaining how the new-age technology is evolving, he says it is “necessary to reinvent existing tech to adapt to the new norms of social distancing and reimagined physical boundaries, and to drive innovation in the creation of the tech solutions that are now required in the new normal.”

He adds, “Even as businesses work towards regaining momentum in the global economy, it is imperative to ensure that talent is able to keep up with the emerging demands of AI-powered solutions on their skills.”
